Peter Bonner grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and moved to the Cary area after he was married. His wife, Dawn, is an American and went to NC State University. They have lived in Cary with their two boys, with the exception of four years living in Ukraine, since 1992. Patrick is 16 years old and enjoys soccer and music. He is sophomore class president at Wake Christian Academy. Their younger son, James, is 13 years old and also enjoys soccer; he plays on three teams. He is also in the marching band at Wake Christian Academy. Dawn is a middle school Language Arts teacher at Wake Christian and enjoys exercising and doing things as a family. Peter is owner of an indoor soccer and roller hockey training program for children called Kick-’n-Sticks.
Peter came to faith in Christ in the spring of 1990. His wife shared Christ with him before they were married and he soon started attending a Bible preaching church. One weekend, during a conference, he accepted the fact that he was a sinner and needed to be saved. He prayed to have Christ come into his life and save him.
The Bonners have attended Colonial since 1992; Peter was involved in youth ministries for a decade before he and Dawn left for the mission field in June 2003. Since returning in 2007, Peter has been assisting in his Sunday school class. Peter’s favorite scripture is Acts 20:24: “But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, in order that I may finish my course and the ministry, which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solomnly of the gospel of the grace of God.”
