Mark Hudson was born in Bethesda, MD where his dad managed a Christian bookstore (the Lamplighter) in College Park. Through his dad’s career in the Christian book and Bible industry, Mark moved numerous times growing up, including to Atlanta, GA; Elgin, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; and Franklin, TN. He went to Clemson University and then settled in Raleigh after receiving his undergrad degree in Chemical Engineering. He later received his MBA at Duke University.
He met his wife, Amy, at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh where they attended for 14 years before coming to Colonial for geographic reasons. Mark and Amy have three children, Garrett (11), Audie (9) and Reid (5). Amy is a stay-at-home mom but also manages her own jewelry business (Lia Sophia). Mark manages the regional supply chain for a Danish agricultural chemicals company, Cheminova Inc., including USA, Canada and Australia / New Zealand.
Mark grew up in a Christian home where he heard the gospel from an early age and saw the Christian life modeled clearly by his parents. Mark was saved at age 4, after learning about the difference between heaven and hell in his Sunday school class. However, by age 10 or 11 he began to doubt his recollection of having been saved. After watching the movie “Like a Thief in the Night” at church, he had a discussion with his mom about his doubts and lack of assurance. She shared I John 5:11-12 with him and Mark was reminded that either we have Christ or we don’t and that “these things were written that we can know.” Mark asked God for assurance of his salvation. To this day, that is the point in time that Mark looks back to as the moment when he truly gave his life to Christ.
Mark and Amy transferred their membership from Providence Baptist to Colonial in the summer of 2006. Since then, they have been involved in the Couples Under Construction ABF and have helped lead a flock group in that class. They have also been involved with the AWANA ministry for the past 4 years.
Since high school, Mark’s favorite verses have been Jeremiah 29:11-13: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
